Dhanurmas or Dhanur Masam is considered as highly auspicious for Lord Sri Maha Vishnu. Dhanur Masa is also called Chapa Mas, Kodanda Mas, Karmuka Mas etc. Dhanurmasa is also called Shoonya Masa, hence it is considered as inauspicious to perform good things other than Godly & Holy functions.
According to puranas, the Gods wakeup early in the morning during the month of Dhanurmas. They perform special prayers to Sri Maha Vishnu during the auspicious period of Brahm Muhurta, which is one and half hours before sunrise.
Devotees perform all kinds of Vishnu Pujas on an auspicious day of Vaikunta Ekadasi which falls during Dhanur Masam. At the end of Dhanur Masam, dakshinayana mostly completed during the Hindu Lunar calendar.This period ends with the Makar Sankranti.
The Important Dhanur Masam Poojas are... Satyanarayana Vrat Pooja, Vishnu Puja, Vishnu Sahasranama Parayanam, Tulasi Puja, Vaikunta Ekadasi Puja, Goda Kalyanam. Lord Sri Maha Vishnu Puja, Vishnu Sahasranama Parayanam, Vishnu Astottara Pathanam will give Moksha in Dhanurmasam.
